In my 45 years of being in business, most of them self employed, I see more and more government control on every level. On the local level it was decided that carpet retailers are now home improvement contractors that have to be licensed by the state. Did this stop the unscrupulous from taking advantage of the consumer? No it did not! What it did do was give the state a big boost in revenue from license fees and fines from those companies who did not apply for a license. First offense $3500.00 + a $500.00 ticket for operating without a license. When did this law go into effect and how was the business notified. Answer from the State " ignorance is no excuse of the law" maybe we needed to be mind readers as I researched
The law and it is on the books, but I could not find any prior notification anywhere.
Well, I guess that's the way it is. What's your view?

All carpet dealers would love to achieve this level of retailing, unfortunatley it is just not possible. The requirements are tough and you cannot just apply for it, you must be selecet by the field representative. Here are just a few of those requirements/

Certified Installation professionals
Industry educated sales professionals, with knowledge of color, and design
A well maintained showroom, that is easy to shop, orderly, neat and customer friendly.
After sales service manager to follow up that everything went as planed and the customer is completely satisfied.
That is the outline and each item has asub chapters and I don't want to bore you with all that detail. So, when the other store says "what do they have that we don't" Let them know!

What I have to tell you, you will not believe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A large home center has lost the right to sell Stainmaster Carpet...........Why, they ran misleading ads about whole house installation at $39.00 when in fact they actually built it into the padding price. Shame on them.
Now listen to this and let me know how you feel about it.

I place many order by phone every day and I am getting a bit crazed about pressing 1 for English. When last I looked English was our language, so why press one or any number for that matter. My grand parents came to this country from Europe at the turn of the century. Were they greeted with signs in their native language, no I don't think so, nor where there any directions on the subway in their language. No matter, they survived, they went to school and leaned English so they could be good Americans. So what changed, why do we have to press any number to speak in our own tongue. Its seems ludicrous.What do you think, I would like to know.
